The Moringa tree (moringa olifera) grows very quickly even under dry conditions and is native to most tropical and semi tropical nations, especially Asia, Africa, and India. Just about every part of the tree is edible and its medicinal properties are astounding. ![]() and can be ingested raw or in capsule or powder form. The leaves of this superfood make wonderful teas , soups, and smoothies or they can be eaten raw. The leaves are rich in antioxidants like quercitin, chlorogenic acid, and Vitamin C which alleviate or even prevent diabetes and heart disease. They also contain isothiocyanates which are antiinflammatory and which reduce arthritis and heart conditions. Moringa has some 25 per cent protein and is loaded with scores of vitamins and amino acids practically making it a complete food. Moringa leaves are said to contain 10 times the the Vitamin A of carrots, 17 times the calcium of milk, 15 times the potassium of bananas, and 25 times the iron of spinach. Not only is Moringa wonderful for human health but it benefits the environment as well. It purifies water, improves soil and plant growth, is a natural pesticide, and makes great animal feed. Animals love it! When the temperature drops to below 50 degrees farenheight (10 degrees celsius) the Moringa tree goes dormant but does not die. It can grow as much as 15 feet in one warm season and actually thrives in drought!
