Why is our planet Terra, or Gaia, Earth not recognized in astrology? All of the other ten bodies in astrology -Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto get lots of coverage, but Terra -almost none, Actually, Terra does receive notice but not in a clearly defined
or obvious manner.
We all know the importance of the Ascendant or Rising sign in astrology as the most important "angle" or "point" in the birth chart but fail to recognize what it actually is
or represents. In short, the Ascendant or Rising Sign is none other than Terra or the Earth itself which sets up the birth chart. Terra's symbol or glyph is the cross inside a
circle, the circle being the birth chart and the cross its four quadrants. The quadrants are then subdivided by three to give us the twelve signs or houses.
 In the whole sign house system, the Ascendant point or degree is part of the whole first house or sign rather than its starting point, The successive signs/houses follow, and the MC or Midheaven becomes a free-floating body instead of the beginning of the tenth house. The Ascendant degree itself becomes free-floating within the first house and is usually marked as As or A for short. Every now and then there is an article or suggestion that your Earth or Terra sign is directly opposite your Sun Sign. So if your Sun sign is at 3 dgrees Leo your Earth or Terra sign is at 3 degrees Aquarius. This is spurious and untrue and is a purely astronomical perspective. We are are not living on the Sun but on Earth, so Earth working through the Ascendant or Rising Sign, becomes our reference point. The Ascendant or Rising sign changes roughly every two hours making it the most personal, salient, or obvious part of your chart and persona, matched only by the Midheaven or MC. The faster a body or factor moves the more it is noticeable, both in appearance and impact. The Moon is next in speed after the Asc and MC making it the next most visible factor in the chart. Why the link between Earth, Terra, or Gaia and the Ascendant or Rising sign has not been promulgated is beyond me. It clears up so many ambiguities and literally brings astrology down to Earth. Are the authorities deliberately hiding this great truth for fear that it would make astrology more acceptable to the masses? It appears to me that the elite who are well versed in the divine science of astrology are keeping the best of it for themselves. This goes for the mystery of the MC as well or whatever other bodies or factors are still hidden from us and which would make our lives much richer in meaning.
