Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, and the most important object in ancient Egyptian history, Its heliacal rising determinined the start of their year, and in agriculture, it determined when the Nile river would rise and fertilize their crops. Sirius was known to Egypt as the godess Isis and associated with the astrological sign of Virgo the sign of harvest.

Also known as the Dog star, Sirius rises at the Giza plateau at 30 degrees N every July 4th and has done so for ages. This blue star is supposedly the sun of our sun taking some 24,000 years to traverse the entire zodiac. It is considered our binary partner and everytime the Sun and Sirius are at their closest approaches we have a Golden Age. It is now very far from us as we transition from the Iron to the Bronze Age(see diagram below).
