| Ison in Cancer
Comet Ison is one of the few comets that stays in only one sign (Cancer) for most of its orbit. This is because of its high inclination to the ecliptic at 62 degrees.
It was in tropical Cancer for hundreds of years before our current time period and will be so in the next few hundred years. Only near perihelion(2013-2014) did Ison
traverse 5 of the other signs.
Ison's high inclination to the ecliptic (62 degrees) is what keeps it in Cancer. This is also very close to the inclination of our Galactic Equator (60 degrees).
What does this mean? Cancer is the sign of home, family, emotions, nurturing, security, and the past. I've always felt that humanity was very Cancerian-like in nature
always dominated by the need for security and survival. but there was no long-term influence or transit in the sky to reflect this (other than the star Sirius). Ison seems
to fit the bill very well.
The orbit of Ison is based on a 2.15 year observation arc which may not be sufficient to peg its entire hyperbolic orbit which is still in question. The astronomers
give it millions of years but I feel it is much less than that -perhaps in the hundreds of years. I feel astronomy has a way of exaggerating its distances and time
periods.
Also, EVERY object in the heavens has deep spiritual, social, and even mundane significance, something modern astronomy tends to ignore or downplay. The current rift between science
and the occult or spirituality is artificial and desperately needs to be healed. What Ison actually represents is unknown, but like all comets, it is a messenger of some sort, portending important
cycles and events. Perhaps Ison in Cancer means 'I the Son am the Preserver' (Cancer).
Below are tables of Ison's position in the tropical zodiac from 1600 to 2500 AD. Most of us living today have Ison at 18 to 24 degrees of Cancer,
