2003 UB313: 10th Planet or KBO? ![]()
Photographed in October of 2003, noted as a planet(because of its movement) on January 8, 2005, but only announced by NASA on July 29, 2005(after a hacker got into their web site),
2003UB13 might just be the next major planet beyond Pluto. Scientist Mike Brown, at the Caltech Institute, and his colleagues
gave the following imformation...
It has been tentatively called Xena(after the warrior princess in the television series), but a more apt name would be Persephone
It has an orbit of 557 years
It has a 44° orbital inclination to the ecliptic
It has a moon, is bright, and is some 1490 miles in diameter or slightly larger than Pluto which is 1422 miles across
It is presently at its farthest point or 3 times(9 billion kiliometers) the distance of Pluto,
although in 280 years it will come close to Neptune's orbit
It is located in the constellation Cetus(roughly in the Aries Tropical zodiac)

Wikipedia has a good arcticle on it.
Two other bodies 3/4 the size of Pluto and with orbital periods of 285(EL61) and 307(05FY9) years have also been announced or discovered.
The first has a moon and was announced by Spanish astronomers. The second is a more recent discovery of Brown and his colleagues.
Astro.com has provided a provisional ephemeris for UB313. Click here, or...
2003 UB313 was in Pisces for the first quarter of the 20th century and in Aries
for the rest of the century and the next half of the 21st century. That's roughly 125 years
in Aries(1922-2047)! When closest to us, however, it spends only some 15 to 17 years in Leo/Virgo.
This is because of its highly eccentric orbit.
If you think UB313 has an eccentric orbit, wait till they discover what Pickering called "Q" of which he was certain. Q is the Sun's binary with a period of some
25,900 years and a polar inclination to the ecliptic of some 86°! It has 6% of the Sun'as mass and is believed to be located in late tropical Sagittarius or near
the galactic center. This brown dwarf or dark star has its own family of planets, possibly one of which is the famed Nibiru.
I've noticed that planetary orbits become increasingly eccentric as we move away from Neptune. Does this mean that they are newly acquired orbits which will
stabilize with time, or is it a space-time warp of some kind?
All of the newly discovered planets beyond Saturn have long-term orbits which exceed the average life span and which may signify that we are moving towards longer life
spans ourselves(or that the possibility is certainly there). What this all means is that we are moving towards immortality or the kind of life-spans Noah and the patriarchs
once enjoyed. Ub313 with its 557-year orbit is certainly pointing towards this goal.
Is UB313 a planet? This is the big question. It may or it may not be. It's fate or status will be determined by the IAU.
The IAU(International Astronomical Union) who is to decide UB313's fate, is guided by or secretly takes its orders from the unseen powers of this planet
and beyond who are the true moulders of planetary destinies. Only these unseen powers can make such huge decisions such as whether a planet is legitimate
or not, and they will do so over the coming months and years. Personally, I believe it is as much a planet as Pluto.
All this talk about Pluto not being a true planet is nonsense. Astrologically, it has proven itself over the last 75 years and
I have no doubt about its legitimacy -it is the full-fledged ruler of Scorpio. Remember, Pluto has a large moon-Charon, reinforcing its
planetary status, and combining to give tiny Pluto its extra whack or power. In fact, Pluto is a double planet, as is the Earth-Moon system.
Planethood is not based soley on size or distance, but on divine or supernatural ordinance. This ordinance is that there shall
always be twelve major ruling bodies in our solar system -no more, and no less. WHICH bodies is the real question(regardless of size, distance,
or eccentricity). There may be hundreds of planet-sized bodies in our solar system, but only twelve will be recognized as having real or major astrological
power and influence -just like the twelve major gods of Olympus in Greek mythology.
Our struggle to define the term "planet" is leading inexorably to a confrontation(and possible reconciliation) between astronomy and astrology. Astronomically, a planet is defined as a spherical body of considerable size
that has its own independant orbit around the sun. Astrologically, a planet is defined as a spherical body of considerable size that appears to orbit the Earth. Astronomy takes the heliocentric
(sun-centered) approach whereas astrology takes the geocentric(Earth-centered) approach. Astronomy does not consider the Sun and Moon as planets, whereas astrology does.
Astronomy and astrology need not clash. Each offers a different perspective of our universe, one material, and the other spiritual. Astronomy without astrology is lifeless and meaningless, whereas astrology
without astronomy is chaotic and superstitious. Astronomy gives us pictures, facts, and measurements whereas as astrology binds us to the cosmos in a personal and meaningful way. What good is knowing about
Mars or Jupiter unless they have some personal or immediate relevance to our daily lives?
The truth is that everything affects everything else, no matter how small or large. Science must accept that spirit
or ether is the glue that holds all matter together and that all cosmic bodies influence each other in collective fashion. The lives of everyone on Mars or Jupiter, for example, affect you collectively via the logos or god
centers of those planets which are magnetically linked, and we affect them through our own logos or planetary center. There truly are no islands in the universe.
A supercomet called 2000 CR 105 orbiting between UB313 and Sedna hints at a large undiscovered object in or around the Kuiper belt that may have flung all of these smaller objects into their present orbits. 2000 CR 105 is some 250 miles wide with an orbit of some 3175 years. It was discovered or announced in March of 2001. It is the 2nd farthest object thus far known after Sedna with an average distance of 224 AU from the Sun. It was located in mid-Leo(tropical) at the time of its discovery. Are Sedna and Nibiru orbiting our dark star companion, and is ours a double solar system? TENTH PLANET HAS A MOON!
PLUTO'S TWO NEW MOONS...
Xena and our binary may have been known since the 1980's. See here for an excerpt of the article.
See also here for an abbreviated and modified ephemeris of the Vulcan/Dark Star by Dr. Herbert W. Kuehne.
The discovery of a new KBO named "Buffy" was announced on December 13th, 2005 by a team of French, Canadian, and US astronomers. The object is some 300 to 600 miles in diameter, has a
nearly circular but highly inclined(47°) orbit of 440 years at 52 to 62 AU. This is just beyond the edge of the Kuiper belt or twice the distance of Neptune to the Sun.
Hubble shows Xena to be only slightly larger than Pluto
Xena's status as a planet may become clear as of late August 2006 when the IAU releases and votes on its definition of the term "planet".
The definition was released in mid August while the vote on the definition will take place on August 24th.
Aug.16,2006: "PLUTONS" and "DWARF PLANETS" push the planet count to twelve as Ceres, Charon, and UB313 enter the fold. Dozens more are on the waiting list.
Aug.24,2006: The IAU has demoted Pluto from major planet status. It is now a "dwarf planet" along with Ceres and 2003ub313(Xena), and others that will join later. There are now 3 main categories of solar system bodies
orbiting the sun...
1. Major or "classical" planets(Mercury, Venus, Mars, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune)
Xena renamed Eris, and Gabrielle -Dysnomia
COROT Space Telescope is Launched and Operative:
The beginning of the 21st century is turning out to be a boom for astronomical exploration as many new space telecopes and satellites are being launched regularly for the study of our cosmos. The galactic center is rich with
sun systems different or similar to our own. One of the most notable discoveries of late is a four-sun solar system(HD 988000) in the TW Hydrae constellation with two pairs revolving around each other(see picture below) separated by
some 50 AU and circled by annular debris.
NASA knows about our binary sun. See here, and here For one of the scientist's websites see here. PLUTO THE PLUTOID Pluto's status was redefined by the IAU in Oslo Norway on June 11, 2008(almost two years after it was stripped of planethood) from a dwarf planet to a plutoid. The term plutoid defines a category of Pluto-like objects beyond Neptune which are spherical and have not cleared their neighbourhood. So far only Pluto and three other similar objects -Haumea, Makemake, and Eris have received this distinction, but there are most assuredly more to come. Ceres still remains simply a dwarf planet for now, although a new category may be created for it later.
The third largest plutoid after Pluto and Eris is officially named Makemake by discoverer Michael Brown on July 14th, 2008. Makemake is the Polynesian god of fertility and creator of humanity. Makemake is roughly 950 miles(or 1500 km) in diameter or about 3/4 the size of Pluto.
