With gas prices soaring continually, the electric car is fast becoming an attractive alternative. We're also becoming more aware or concerned about our health and environment, which has gas companies worried. The ZENN pictured above, for example, is currently priced at between $12,000 and 15,000 dollars US. It runs on six twelve volt batteries, takes 8 hours to fully charge, drives for 30-50 miles per charge at speeds up to 40 kms(25 miles per hour), has 13 cubic feet of storage space, and plugs into a regular 120 volt socket. The batteries have a lifespan of 3 to 5 years. The ZENN is popular across the United States, Mexico, and Europe, and can be purchased in Canada as of July 17, 2008. It was designed for city or local travel, but the newer 2009 models(such as the cityZENN) will double or triple in speed and range, and take much less time to recharge thanks to EEstor's new ULTRACAPACITOR technology.

Other currently popular electric vehicles include the Reva(made in India), the Dodge Zeo(United States), the Ox(Norway), and the Mitsubishi i Miev(France). Two popular electric sportscars are the Tesla Roadster(USA), and the Lightning GT(UK).
