Earth's Lovers: Mars and Venus

Mars and Venus are our closest planetary neighbours and have always played crucial roles in Earth's history, both astronomically and astrologically. There may have been a time when Pluto was also a much closer neighbour, before being slung out into the outer fringes of our solar sysem.

Astronomical Significance

While Venus shares an almost identical diameter with Earth(7000 miles as compared to Earth's 8000), Mars shares a similar axial tilt(25.19) and rotational period(24 hrs.40 min.). One source(Joseph H. Cater in his book The Awesome Life Force) even goes so far as to claim that Mars is actually larger than the Earth with a diameter of some 11,400 miles, instead of 4,200! Astronomers may very well be off on some of the correct diameters(and distances) of the planets.

Our planetary neighbours: Mars(left) and Venus (right) and Earth at center

Earth, Mars, and Venus, along with Mercury, Moon(which was once intra-Mercurial), and Pluto(which was once an inner planet), make up the six smallest planets in our solar system. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are the four giants, and largest of all are the Sun and its twin or binary. From two come the four, and from the four come the six.

Esoteric, New Age, and other authors have written profusely about our ancient and even recent interactions with the inhabitants of Venus and Mars. There appears to be a dramatic increase in UFO sightings when their orbits are closest to ours, and this seems to suggest more trade and activity with our Earth. The nature of this trade or activity appears to be kept highly secret from the general masses.

The Mars/Earth/Venus relationship as symbolized by the common traffic light
Our every day lives are filled with symbolism which reflect our current planetary situation. One such is the common traffic light with its stop(red=Mars), caution (yellow/amber=Earth), and go(green=Venus) lights. It shows you who the main players are on this planet(Mars/Venus), and who currently has the upper hand(Venus). Mars plays the guard and warns us of danger while Venus gives the go-ahead. Earth is sandwiched in-between and is on constant alert. Since we are closer to red-blooded Mars rather than green-blooded Venus, Mars should mean go and Venus should mean stop. It's all in reverse.

According to Russian cosmobiologist Immanuel Velikovsky, in his book Worlds In Collision, a young and errant Venus "mated" with Earth around 1495 BC, causing massive disruption and chaos in the process, including the biblical plagues which Moses and his God beset on ancient Egypt. Massive electrical arcs were discharged between Earth and Venus as the two planets neared dangerously close to one anoher, and each left its imprint on the other. Mars is also said to have "visited" Earth aound 747 BC with similar consequences. These infrequent planetary collisions or matings often produce new planets, landmasses, races, or nations. The city of Rome, for example is reputed to have had its inception under the Mars encounter.

Zechariah Sitchin of Twelfth Planet fame adds another piece to the puzzle by stating that a planetary invader, which the Sumerians named Nibiru, was responsible for the periodic(every 3,600 years) disturbances of our solar system, including the birth or destruction of planets and the changing of their orbits or axial tilts.

American/Tibetan Lama, Robert Ernst Dickoff, in his book -Agartha, indicates that we are closer to our blonde, blue-eyed, Nordic demi-gods and creators, the Martians, than we are to the reptillian humanoids of Venus, both of whom are deadly and eternal enemies and both of whom are vying for our planet. According to Robert, we have abandoned our original partner or lover(Mars) and sold out to our Venusian pimps who only want to use us.

One way the Martians have successfully dealt with the reptillians is to play on their one major weakness -the cold. All reptiles(and insects) are cold-blooded and can't function in cold weather. They "freeze up" or paralyze. Using their technical ingenuity, the Martians have built vast undergroung freezing machines near the poles to restrict or restrain the proliferation of their nemesis. The "Ice Ages" are nothing more than the full functioning of these freezing machines.

In astrology, Venus/Taurus represents the 8th house of sex, death, and regeneration for Earth/Libra, while Mars/Aries represents the 7th house of marriage or partnership. We are definitely better off with Mars than we are with Venus. Venusians find us attractive and smart(and delicious), but we find them gross and scary. Martians also find us attractive, but unlike the Venusians(not all of which are bad or reptillian.), they do not see us as food, toys, or resources to be used and possessed. Martians treat Eartheans as equals, and we they. Martians needs us to vanquish the negative Venusian hordes who are always defeating them in some way, and we need the Martians to help rid Earth of the same.

Eartheans have other friends such as the Solarians, Mercurians, Jupiterians, and Uranians, as well as other enemies, such as the Lunarians, Saturnians, Neptunians, and Plutonians, but none is closer or more important to us, both geographically and personaly, than the Martians. They are our intimate opposites on the zodiac wheel, and we need to strengthen or re-establish our partnership with them.

Astrological Significance

In astrology, the Earth's influence comes to us via the ascendant or rising sign and describes our most immediate or personal traits. All of the planets in astrology have equal significance, since we are solar-system beings, it's just that we are focused(physically) on planet Earth, so it becomes our reference point in relation to the rest of the chart or solar system.

Mars and Earth represent the Aries-Libra axis in astrology. Both are "wedded" to one another via their respective rulerships(Mars rules Aries and Earth rules its opposite -Libra). The opposition is the aspect of marriage or partnership. Earth/Libra, when combined with its night-side ruler, Venus/Taurus results in the institution called marriage, while Mars/Aries, when combined with its night-side ruler, Pluto/Scorpio, results in sex or procreation. On a cosmic or even biblical level, Earth(Libra) has left her original bride or lover Mars(Aries) to go awhoring after Venus(Taurus), leaving Mars to shack up with Pluto(Scorpio).

This love/lust scenario is replayed in our personal lives via our own Earth/Mars/Venus/Pluto placements(the "sex planets" in astrology). Since Earth is our reference point, planetary relations to it are first to be considered. Venus and Mars have an especially intimate relationship to the Earth/Ascendant. Venus in one chart can give great pleasure(usually sexual) when harmoniously linked by sign or element to someone else's Ascendant. Mars, harmoniously linked, can be very invigorating and has the effect of encouraging the ascendant person to just be his or her unpretentious self.
