The Sun
The Sun
The Sun's position is relatively steady from year to year varying one day at most. The generally accepted dates for the Sun's passage through
the signs are as follows...
| Sun in Leo | July 23 to Aug.22 | _____ | Sun in Aquarius | Jan.20 to Feb.18 |
| Sun in Virgo | Aug.23 to Sep.22 | _____ | Sun in Pisces | Feb.19 to Mar.20 |
| Sun in Libra | Sep.23 to Oct.21 | _____ | Sun in Aries | Mar.20 to Apr.20 |
| Sun in Scorpio | Oct.22 to Nov.21 | _____ | Sun in Taurus | Apr.21 to May 20 |
| Sun in Sagittarius | Nov.22 to Dec.20 | _____ | Sun in Gemini | May 21 to June 20 |
| Sun in Capricorn | Dec.21 to Jan.19 | _____ | Sun in Cancer | June 21 to July 22 |
If you are born on the cusp(first or last day of a sign) it would be wise to get a more precise calculation for your year of birth.
The notion that you can partake of both signs is total folly. You are either one Sun sign or the other. Your sense that you can be both
is usually due to the fact that Mercury, Venus, or some other planet is in that sign.

The Moon
The Moon
The Moon also requires careful calculation, as it changes signs roughly every two to three days. The Moon rules Cancer and is your
daily living planet. For Moon ingress dates for the years 1900 to 2012 AD Click here

The Terrestial Planets
Mercury
Mercury is never more than 28 degrees away from the Sun, so it can only be in the same sign as your Sun, or the sign before or after it.
If you are born in the first ten days of your sign, Mercury will be either in the same sign as your sun or the sign before it. If you are
in the middle ten days of your Sun sign, Mercury will in all likelihood be in the same sign as your Sun. If you are born in the last ten
days of your Sun sign, Mercury will either be in the same sign or after.
Mercury rules Gemini/Virgo and is your communication planet. Masculine Mercury signs(Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius,
and Aquarius) are loud and talkative, whereas feminine Mercury signs(Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces) are quiet and
secretive.

Venus
Venus is never more than 48 degrees from the Sun, so it can only be in the same sign as your Sun or the two signs before or after it.
Venus rules Taurus and is your sex and money planet. For Venus entry dates into the signs for the years 1900 to 2012 click here

The Earth/Ascendant or Rising Sign Earth is also a planet, and because we live on it, it affects us astrologically in
a special way -via the ascendant or rising sign. The Earth always being exactly opposite the Sun in a chart is a purely astronomical notion and has no
astrological validity. Determining your exact Ascendant position requires your exact time and place of birth since it is based on the Earth's 24 hour
rotation(one ascendant roughly every two hours), and the tables and mathematics involved cannot be listed here. Below is a very rough way to determine your
ascendant or rising sign.
| If you were born between the hours of 04 and 06 am | your Ascendant is the same as your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 06 and 08 am | your Ascendant is one sign after your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 08 and 10 am | your Ascendant is two signs after your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 10 and 12 am | your Ascendant is three signs after your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 12 and 02 pm | your Ascendant is four signs after your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 02 and 04 pm | your Ascendant is five signs after your Sun sign |
The order or sequence of the signs is: Aries, Taurus, Gemeni, Cancer, Leo, Virgo,
Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces(followed by Aries again).
| If you were born between the hours of 04 and 06 pm | your Ascendant is six signs after your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 06 and 08 pm | your Ascendant is five signs before your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 08 and 10 pm | your Ascendant is four signs before your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 10 and 12 pm | your Ascendant is three signs before your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 12 and 02 am | your Ascendant is two signs before your Sun sign |
| If you were born between the hours of 02 and 04 am | your Ascendant is one sign before your Sun sign |

The Midheaven or Earth's Inner Sun
This part of your chart also changes roughly every two hours and is usually two to four signs before your Ascendant. The Midheaven is probably
the least understood or researched part of astrology yet it is touted to be as important as the Ascendant or any other planet. Our planet is hollow and
contains an inner central sun or luminous "planet" some 600 miles in diameter. All planets are hollow and contain inner central suns. This sun is measured or
computed astrologically via the longitude of birth as it intersects the ecliptic. Geocentrically speaking, it is the highest point in the heavens along the ecliptic,
hence its name the Midheaven or "middle of heaven". It supposedly describes your alter ego, public or professional status, and parental influence. Further research
is definitely required and here are the Ingress Tables to help you do so. Is the Midheaven a legitimate
planetary influence? and if so what sign(if any) is it connected to? These are important questions. See
here for a great article on the significance of the Midheaven.

Mars
Mars is the first planet outside the orbit of Earth taking almost two years to make a complete orbit. It is usually in a sign for about
two months except when it is in retrograde motion wherein it can stay in a sign or 30 degree portion of the sky for six to seven months.
Mars rules Aries and is your energy planet. For tables of Mars in the signs for 1900 to 2012 AD click here.

Ceres
Ceres was discovered on January 1st 1801 by Giuseppe Piazzi and was immediately accepted as a planet. The later discoveries of Vesta, Juno, Pallas, and other smaller bodies
caused it to be demoted to an asteroid in 1802. Modern telescopic observations of Ceres, however, show it to be spherical and very similar in composition to the terrestial planets
despite its small size and it is now being reinstated as a "dwarf planet" by the IAU. It is some 587 miles in diameter and orbits the Sun in 4.59 years, taking an average
of 4.5 months to go through a sign. Ceres is an agricultural godess closely linked to Virgo(and Cancer). For pictures and a short article click here.

Main Asteroids
Ceres, the largest inner asteroid(about 590 miles diameter), was discovered on Jan.1, 1801, followed by
Pallas(350 miles) on Mar.28, 1802, Juno(140 miles) on Sep.1, 1804, and Vesta(330 miles) on Mar.29, 1807. Ceres
and Vesta are agricultural and perhaps linked to Virgo while Pallas and Juno are justice fighters perhaps linked
to Libra. For ingress tables of these asteroids for the years 1900 to 2012 AD click here.

Hypothetical Planets
Lilith
Lilith is the demon godess of astrology bent on taking revenge on all male human births. She was the first woman, Adam's equal,
refusing to be dominated by him, and Eve's serpent tempter in the Garden. Astrologically, Lilith represents your dark or weak side. Astronomically, Lilith is the apogee
point in the Moon's orbit, postulated by astrologers in 1918. This dark or invisible "second moon" of the Earth takes 8 years and 10 months to complete an orbit
and spending a little over 8 months in each sign. For tables of Lilith in the signs for 1900 to 2025 AD click here.

The 8 Uranians
Transneptunians postulated by Alfred Witte of Germany, from the nearest -Cupido(Libra), the god of love, to the farthest -Poseidon(Pisces),
the god of mysticism. Inbetween are Hades(Virgo) the god of the underworld, Zeus(Leo) the god of thunder, Kronos(Cancer) the god of the universe,
Appollon(Gemini-Sagittarius) the god of light and truth, Admetos(Taurus) the god of endings, and Vulcanus(Aries) the god of strength. For tables of
the Uranians for the years 1900 to 2000 AD click here.

Persephone/Transpluto
Touted by several authors(Hawkins,Whitney,Vaughn, etc.) to be the next major planetary discovery beyond Pluto. Transpluto
or Persephone supposedly has an orbit of about 676 years with an inclination to the ecliptic twice that of Pluto. It spends anywhere from
30 to 90 years in each zodiac sign and is often assigned as the true ruler of Libra, Taurus, or Virgo.

Comets
Halley's Comet
The most famous of the comets named after Sir Edmund Halley who predicted its return for 1757(off by about two years due to the gravitaion of Jupiter and Saturn).
It is only some ten miles long and has a long elliptical orbit of 75 to 76 years. It's last appearance was in 1986 and its next is due for 2061/62. Records of its appearances
may go back as far as 2467 BC. Its periodical return appears to coincide with important worlwide events. For tables of Halley's comet through the signs for the
years 1909 to 2012 click here.
|
Hale-Bopp Comet
The most conspicuous comet of the 20th century named after the astronomers Alan Hale and Thomas Bopp who co-discovered it in July of 1995. It is one of the largest
comets known and has a long orbit of over 2500 years. It was thought by some Sitchin followers to be the famed Nibiru and was seen by the Heaven's Gate cult as their passage to
Heaven(through suicide) due to their belief that it was followed by a Messianic ship. For tables of Halley's comet through the signs for the
years 1900 to 1998 click here.

Comet NEAT
One of the brightest and most controversial comets of the last century named after the NEAT observatory in Hawaii. Was NEAT a comet or something else? This is the question
that raised controversy during its appearance. Little is known or revealed about its true nature. For tables of Comet NEAT through the signs for the
years 1900 to 2025 click here.

The Stars
The Fixed Stars
The stars, while not as powerful as the planets, can have an important modifying effect on your chart. The star must be conjunct and within one degree
of a planet or natal point. Some stars are benevolent while others are malevolent or neutral. Fantastic wealth or fame or continuous ruin and scandal is probably
the effect of some star over one or more of your planets. The astrological influence of the stars is a lost or forgotten part of Astrology, and this is a shame,
for they connect us with the rest of the universe. For a listing of major stars click here.
