A chart cast for January 1st of each year usually reveals the general outcome for that year but since there is no one single locality representing the planet, the chart
can vary depending on location. Most of the planets will be the same worldwide unless they're really close to changing signs. The Moon travels 12 degrees per day
and since New Year's is a 24-hour event the Moon can be in a different sign depending on the country. The Rising sign and MC can also vary, so that predictions
for the world as a whole can only really be done with the slower moving planets and the aspects they make.
To show you what I mean, below are the charts of 4 different cities on midnight January 1, 2011...
You will note that the Sun and planets from Mercury to Pluto remain basically unchanged, but that the Moon and angles vary substantially. These variances will apply individually to the countries or locations in question. In the 4 examples, two have the Moon in early Sagittarius and two in late Scorpio, and all have Libra Rising and Cancer Midheaven except in the case of Rio which is south of the equator and has Virgo rising and Gemini MC. Why do we all start the New Year with the Sun in dark and gloomy Capricorn? This immediately spells hard work and misfortune for everybody. I would rather we start the year in late July with sunny and creative Leo(the Sun's home placement) which would do wonders for our love lives and self-esteem. Under Capricorn, the heart(Sun) is cold, and business and governments are happy and flourish(at the expense of its subjects). Yes, much is achieved materially under this sign, but often at the cost of personal happiness or fulfillment. Even starting the year in late March(Aries), which was the case in ancient times(before the Romans changed it to January), would make a huge difference in the quality of our year and world. Of course when it was in March a lot of wars(Aries/Mars) occurred but it was a positive and forward-looking time nonetheless. The Sun makes a conjunction to Mars, and especially Pluto, so there will be much happening in business and government but most of it in secret or stealth. On an individual level, many of us will have to start anew where our jobs, reputations, goals, or careers are concerned. The Moon for 2011 is in Scorpio or Sag depending on where you live. New York and Rio have it in Sag, so it will be a lucky and expansive period for them on the home front, but London and Tokyo have it in Scorpio which spells deep changes or transformations for those countries. These are the two signs all countries will have to deal with on a domestic level. Mercury is in Sag for everyone so 2011 is a good year for travelling and studying, especially foreign destinations and higher or spiritual studies. This is the time to expand our mental horizons by learning a new language or experiencing a different culture. Ethical or moral issues will also be big this year. Venus is in Scorpio -yes, sex will always be there, and it will be hot and passionate, and many will definately roll out the cash for it. This is also a good time for buying coffins and burial plots and looking for tax havens and investing in general. Mars in Capricorn signifies lots of activity where work and career are concerned. Getting fired or starting a new career will be commonplace and more people wll consider self-employment. It's a time to be more careful and efficient and to do more with less. Mars with Pluto wlll intensify this and may create an underground economy or source of labour and money. Jupiter in Pisces makes everyone just want to let go and retire from the maddening world around us. Sleep, rest, privacy, drugs, and intoxcating stimulants are all welcome escapes right now as are films, TV, and visual media in general. Charities and care institutons do well now as do all musical or artistic endeavors. Jupiter conjunct Uranus is good for looking into completely new philosophies or ideas and expanding one's circle of friends or associations. Saturn in Libra puts the brakes on relationships and social institutions. Useless or superficial relations fall apart and outdated or corrupt government social institutions break down. Laws concerning social justice or conduct will be(or be felt) more severe now so it's best to do what's fair or right. An onus will put on beautifying our homes, personal appearance, and environments. Uranus in Pisces seeks truth, novelty, and liberation in mysterious places such as in dreams, visions, fantasies, the art world, and the paranormal. This is a time to explore and lay bare the mysteries and secrets of the world which will hopefully set us free. It's also a time to let loose one's emotions and perhaps just go mad. Neptune in Aquarius is conditioning the masses and psyches to be different, original, inventive, and independant. There is a thirst for anything new or unusual that will bring freedom, progress, or benefit to all such as clean electric power. Neptune here also sensitizes us to the cold and symbolizes freezing rain or water, and sluggish(blood) circulation. Pluto in Capricorn continues to uncover the dirt where government, politics, or industry is concerned. These organizations must be sifted and changed or face death and extinction. On an individual level, our own goals, titles, and ambitions are undergoing massive scrutiny and reorganization. Everyone it seems, is in the process of singling out their true purpose, identity, or function in life. back to main |
