AstroLocality II:
Which Part of Your Chart Are You Living In?
And What Part of the Globe Are You Influencing?

The secret is in the sphere. The sphere and its movement or rotation allows all of the heavenly energies to imprint themselves on it in an even and continuous fashion, making possible the kaleidoscope of life. Roughly every two hours, some thirty degrees of terrestial longitude is bathed in a new rising sign. In twenty-four hours, all of the Earth's shell been refreshed inside the zodiacal magnetosphere.

The above diagram is an idealized and random depiction of the magnetic grid overlapping the Earth's surface. Each line running north and south is the start or end of a Rising sign cutting the Earth into twelve slices. Because of the Earth's axial tilt, only the equinotical lines(0°Aries or Libra) run perfectly square at 90° to the equator. The others are variously inclined -especially near the poles. In polar lattitudes all the lines either converge or dip into the hollow Earth.

When are astrocartographers going to show these twelve Ascendant fields in their entirety, rather than the mess of lines that are commonly displayed? This would give the native in question a better idea of which parts of the planet are covered by which of his or her signs. The planets and their exact degrees can then be inserted as sub-lines. The Midheaven is a planet and should be treated as such (see here).

Depending on your exact time and place of birth, which "freeze" the Heavens over the Earth, you will have twelve distinct regions or slices of the planet to experience. Your CELESTIAL longitude of birth is your Rising degree or Ascendant. East and west of it, going all around the planet, are your other signs and the planets contained therein. Planets in or near the Ascendant are most strongly experienced in the region of your birth. Moving a considerable distance from your birthplace will emphasize another, perhaps totally different, part of your chart.

People who move to another country or travel a lot will bring into focus a different part of their chart based on their natal co-ordinates. Someone born in London, for example, with mid-Aquarius rising, who moves to New York city, will more fully or directly experience the early Sagittarian sector of his chart(and any planets therein). By traveling to all parts of the globe, one theoretically experiences the full potential of the natal chart.

Unfortunately, much of the planet is covered by water, ice, desert, or other inhospitable conditions, so that most of our potential remains inaccessible. Also, if the planet was smaller(or humans bigger), this potential would be realized much faster. The Inner Earth surface, for example, is smaller, three-fourths dry land, and populated by larger inhabitants who get around much easier in what is an ideal ecosphere.

The astounding thing is that not only does the planet affect you via your Ascendant or Rising sign, but YOU affect the planet! If your locality Mars, for example, falls over south central America(as in the diagram), then this area or region will be subjected to your anger or passion(however subtle the influence might be). In this way, we all affect different parts of the globe, individually or collectively, via our birth charts!

The concept of the sphere can be brought down to a much more local level by aligning your city or home with the eastern horizon(sunrise point) and making that your ascending(or locality) degree. You yourself are a sphere with a zodiacal grid around you! Spheres within spheres!
