American puppeteer and creator of The Muppets
including such characters as Kermit the Frog,
Ernie and Bert, Big Bird, Fozzie the Bear,
and Oscar the Grouch. In 1969 The Muppets
found a home on Sesame Street, a popular
children's show which continues to this day,
and then The Muppet Show(1976-81). Henson
also created Fraggle Rock(1983-87) and the ani-
mated Muppet Babies(1984-90). He died of
organ failure due to infection on May 16, 1990
